Administration of medication

While most children will never require medication during the school day, the school understands that some children may need access to medication on occasion or more regularly. If you think that your child may need medication when in school, please read the school policy on the administration of medication in our school. A fully completed application form will need to be submitted to the Board of Management for consideration.

Attendance

Our school places a high value on school attendance. Research has shown that good attendance leads to high levels of pupil engagement with school which has a positive impact on their levels of attainment. Poor levels of attendance have the opposite impact leading to poor engagement, poor educational outcomes, weaker peer relationships, higher risk of engagement in anti-social activity, poor family relationships and less likelihood of continuing to further study. Our school monitors attendance levels and contacts parents when concerns arise. Parents are expected to send their children to school every day unless they are unwell or there is a significant family reason.
The school's attendance policy and Statement of Strategy for school attendance are available below. The Statement of Strategy is required under the Education (Welfare) Act 2000 and is also submitted to our school patron and Tusla.

Child Protection

A copy of our school's Child Protection Policy is available below. This policy is in line with The Child Protection Guidelines for Primary and Post Primary Schools as issued by the Department of Education. The policy is reviewed on an annual basis by the Board of Management most recently in March 2026. The notification of the review to parents can be viewed in the file below.

Code of Behaviour

A copy of the school's Code of Behaviour is available below. Parents/guardians should acquaint themselves with the Code of Behaviour which is an important school policy and with which both pupils and parents/guardians must comply. Acceptance of the Code of Behaviour is a prerequisite for enrolment.

Parental/Guardian concerns and complaints
When a parent/guardian has a concern they should contact the school to seek to resolve the issue. The file below details the nationally agreed parental complaints procedure which has been adopted and is used by our school. Parents/guardians should follow the procedure when seeking to have a complaint addressed.

Pupil Mobile Phone/Smart Devices/Wearables Policy

This policy covers the use of mobile phones, smart devices and wearables by pupils in the school setting. The increasing availability of technology to young children has benefits but also brings many challenges. The school places the care of its pupils at the heart of its work and is anxious that evolving technology is not used in the school setting to inflict harm on any pupil. The school does not allow pupils to bring or use mobile phones or any other device that can photograph or record into school without the permission of the principal. Parents/guardians are asked to respect our policy for the good of all pupils in the school and to be aware of the capabilities of devices/wearables they are providing to their children.

Work Experience
During a school year our school receives a large number of requests for work experience. The majority of requests are made from third level students undertaking initial teacher education programmes, special needs assistants courses or secondary pupils undertaking transition year work placements. All students making an application should read our policy on Work Experience below before contacting the school. Please make sure to apply in good time as the school will only take a certain number of placements each year.
